Work in progress and future projects
It’s Memorial Day in the USA and Spring Bank Holiday Monday in the UK.
It’s time for reflection and it’s time to take stock.
So, where are we up to in our works in progress and what plans do we have for future projects?
Works in progress -
The second instalment of The ABC Chronicles trilogy
The manuscript is finished subject to my editor’s final review of a small number of edits following the proofread. My editor Aime and I are also working on the back page blurb. Once these are finalised, the manuscript will be sent to Julia of Evenstar Books for interior formatting. She is currently working on an earlier pre-proofread manuscript and is waiting for the final version to complete the design.
Meanwhile, Rena at Covers by Violet is working on the cover design. I am awaiting her first concepts for the cover and she is waiting for the final blurb for the back cover.
The third instalment of The ABC Chronicles trilogy
Approximately one eighth of the first draft of the manuscript is written. But the brainstorming process is still very much underway and progressing nicely. Although the manuscript has been started, writing in earnest isn’t due to begin until the major plot points have been mapped.
Victorian detective short stories
I am currently editing the first draft of the first short story of three, set in the same Victorian steampunk re-imagined Salford and Manchester as the ABC Chronicles, a few years before The Connickle Conundrum. It’s a mash-up of genres that I am very excited about. The finished collection of stories should run to about two hundred pages but there is no timetable for release yet.
Anthology of Victorian murder mysteries
This is a spin-off idea from The ABC Chronicles trilogy. I have written the first draft of the first half of a short story featuring two police detectives introduced in the second instalment of the trilogy. The anthology will comprise a series of murder mysteries set after the events of the trilogy.
Future project -
A novel or series of short stories about a paranormal investigator
This concept is hardly past the ‘What if?’ stage. The story, or stories, feature a paranormal investigator with an unusual ability. Once again set in my Victorian steampunk ‘universe’ this will be another mash-up of genres. Currently, I have a protagonist and plot ideas but no antagonist. I am a long way from the plotting stage, just jotting preliminary ideas.
