Whitby Steampunk Weekend

WSW XVI, held over the weekend of 27th and 28th July 2024, was the sixteenth and biggest Summer steampunk yet. Thanks to the hard work of Andy and his team, this event continues to grow and attracts enthusiasts from far and wide.

This was our third attendance but only our second embracing the aesthetic which we are continuing to improve with the assistance of the fabulous vendors in the Pavilion, and in particular, our good friend Rob Maybin of Steampunkdotglobal.

One of the main takeaways from the WSW event each year is the friendliness, both of the folk who attend, and the bemused holidaymakers who have stumbled upon our nonsense. Steampunkers are happy to pose for photographs and answer questions like “What’s all this about?”

We also met esteemed steampunk author, performer and songwriter, the Antipoet, Paul Eccentric and his wife Donna, who gave us a warm welcome. We are very much looking forward to sharing an author table with them and D R Miller in at the steampunk event in Portmeirion in May.

In the meantime, we have already arranged our accommodation for the next steampunk event at Whitby in February and I urge anyone interested in the steampunk aesthetic to come along. You won’t be disappointed!

The first two instalments of the ABC Chronicles are now available in paperback and ebook from Amazon. Scan the QR codes to visit the Amazon page for each book.

Watch out for the next blogpost in which, I hope to have news of a media event.
